Questions, answered plainly.

Is a FirmSign signature legally binding?

Yes, for most business documents in the United States. Signatures collected through FirmSign are designed to meet the federal ESIGN Act and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, including New York's Electronic Signatures and Records Act. Wills and some court filings still need a signature on paper.

Can I set the order people sign in?

Yes. Number the signers and each one gets the email only after the person before them has signed. Turn it off to send to everyone at once.

How does someone check that a copy is the signed one?

Every audit certificate lists the SHA-256 fingerprint of the completed file. Open firmsign.net/verify, drop the copy and compare. The file is hashed in the browser and never uploaded, and no account is needed.

Do signers need an account?

No. Each signer gets an email with a private link, signs in the browser and receives the finished file with the certificate.

Why do you verify my account before I can send?

Signature requests are a favourite of impersonators. A person reviews every sender, usually within one business day. Until then you can explore the dashboard with example documents.

How long do you keep documents?

Completed documents and their audit registers are kept for ten years, or until you delete them where the law allows. You can download the signed file and the certificate at any time.

Do you send text messages?

No. FirmSign communicates by email only.
